Winter hasn't fully set in yet. But oranges have already started appearing in the markets. Many people start eating this fruit from the beginning of winter, so that there is no deficiency of vitamin C in the body. Eating oranges is good for controlling infection-related problems.

What other reasons are there to eat this fruit?

Oranges contain flavonoids. These are actually a type of antioxidant. Regular consumption of orange juice reduces the risk of being affected by complex neurological diseases like Alzheimer's, dementia or Parkinson's.

Vitamin A is extremely important for keeping eyes healthy. However, nutritionists say that vitamin C and beta-carotene present in oranges are also good for the eyes.

Various studies have shown that eating oranges reduces the risk of heart disease. The fibre and potassium present in oranges help control bad cholesterol levels in the blood.

Apart from vitamin C, oranges also contain calcium, potassium, fibre, folic acid, vitamin A and B. All these components help boost immunity.

Fibre-rich oranges also help maintain good intestinal health. Research has shown that the fibre and antioxidants present in oranges help increase the number of good bacteria in the intestines.
