The use of hibiscus is a long-standing phenomenon in hair care. Many people use this flower to prevent premature greying, promote new hair growth, or to make hair soft and silky. Several studies have also highlighted the benefits of hibiscus. It is particularly effective in preventing alopecia, the condition where hair falls from specific areas of the scalp.

Earlier, grandmothers used to mash the petals of hibiscus with coconut oil and apply it to the scalp. Now, readymade hibiscus oils are also available in the market. 1) Hibiscus Shampoo

Most shampoos available in stores are mainly chemical-based. Making a pure, natural shampoo at home using hibiscus can be much more beneficial. It's simple: first, mash hibiscus petals according to your hair length. Add a few tablespoons of gram flour (besan). You can also add some rice flour if your scalp is oily. Mix everything well with rose water. This can then be used as a scalp cleanser.

2) Hibiscus Conditioner

Mix mashed hibiscus or hibiscus powder with the water used for washing rice; however, do not make it too runny. Apply this paste as a conditioner on wet hair. Leave it on for about five minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. Your hair would feel instantly soft and silky.

Dandruff is the nemesis of healthy hair. To achieve healthy hair, it's necessary to first treat dandruff-and hibiscus can help here too. Crush some hibiscus petals or grind them into powder and mix with rice water, adding a little flaxseed. Heat the mixture lightly; beware of making it too thick. Let it cool down to room temperature and then strain it into a bottle.
