Karwa Chauth rituals
The day usually starts with sargi, a pre-dawn supper lovingly prepared by mothers-in-law for their daughters-in-law. Wanting the longevity of their husband, wives abstain from food and water. The day concludes with a puja evening. The wives wore traditional festive attire and gathered to hear and recite the legendary stories of Veeravati, Karwa, and Savitri. The ritual comes to an end after sighting the moon, and the fast ends after the husbands symbolically feed their wives.
