Mahindra plans to release a facelifted version of the three-door Thar SUV in India, scheduled by the end of 2025. The redesigned model will feature numerous design elements from the recently announced Thar RooX. The front bumper has been completely reworked to give the vehicle a more muscular and robust appearance. The fog lamp structures now feature crisper detailing, and the front grille has been rebuilt with LED lights arranged in a C-pattern, which should improve both aesthetics and visibility. New alloy wheels have also been spotted, adding to the refreshed look.
Interior enhancements
Along with the exterior modifications, Mahindra seems to have upgraded the interior. A new center console with design cues from the Thar RooX is expected. The infotainment system will gain sophistication, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen replacing the previous unit. Other interior improvements planned include circular-shaped air vents, repositioned power window controls, a relocated gear lever, and possibly a wireless charging pad for added convenience. Certain trim materials and finishes are likely to be upgraded to reflect these changes. Safety and comfort features may also see improvements.
Mechanical specifications
On the mechanical front, the facelifted Thar is expected to retain existing powertrains rather than introduce new ones; current engine options such as the 1.5-litre diesel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 2.2-litre diesel are likely to carry over. Transmission options will most likely include a six-speed manual and a torque converter automatic. Previously, buyers could choose between 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain combinations. No significant changes to the underlying mechanical underpinnings are anticipated.

The facelifted version aims to close the style gap with the RooX model, introducing a new design language to the Thar series while retaining its rugged nature. Pricing is expected to reflect these enhancements, though specific figures have yet to be confirmed.
