Every evening brings the same demand from children ,“I want something tasty!” From momos and chowmein to phuchka and chicken lollipop, their cravings never seem to end. But it’s not possible — or healthy — to give in every single day.
Instead, try making these two easy and mouth-watering snacks at home. They’re easy to prepare, require basic ingredients, and are sure to win over both kids and adults alike.

Bread pakora
You can make crispy bread pakoras using leftover bread.
Boil two potatoes and mash them well with red chilli powder, chopped garlic, onion, salt, and a dash of mustard oil. Trim off the edges of the bread slices. Take two slices, spread the potato mixture between them, and press gently.
In a bowl, beat two eggs and dip the stuffed bread into it. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
Your bread pakoras are ready to serve. You can serve them hot with tomato ketchup or chutney for a perfect evening treat.
Lemon pancakes
If your little one loves something sweet and tangy, lemon pancakes are a great choice.

In a bowl, whisk together ¾ cup curd, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 egg, and a few drops of vanilla essence. Add ½ cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ½ cup sugar, and a bit of grated lemon zest. Mix everything properly to form a smooth batter.
Brush a little butter on the pan, pour in some batter, and cook until both sides are golden brown.
Now top the pancakes with a drizzle of honey and some lemon zest. You can also serve them with fresh fruits for an extra burst of flavour.
