The hills have returned to their rhythm after overcoming natural disasters. Tourists are enjoying the view of Kanchenjunga in tranquillity while sitting in North Bengal. You have also booked tickets for December. But you can't decide where to go. You can go to Kalimpong even on a low budget, but not to Kalimpong itself. A little further away lies Daragaon. Many call it 'Upper Icche'.

The word 'Dara' means peace. And 'Gaon' means village. You will definitely feel peace when you visit this hill village. This village is home to people from the Lepcha, Limbu, as well as Rai, Gurung and Chhetri communities. Daragaon is right above Icche Gaon. That's why it's more popular by the name 'Upper Icche'. From here, you can catch the flowing Teesta as well as see Kanchenjunga.

The forests of Daragaon are lined with rows of cinchona and pine trees. From Daragaon's viewpoint, you can enjoy the beauty of Teesta and Rangeet. And you can get a view of Kanchenjunga right from the homestay. Who wouldn't love to spend time in such a place! Daragaon is an excellent destination for spending time amidst greenery.

You can easily tour Daragaon in two nights and three days. On the first day, go straight to Daragaon from NJP. On the second day, visit places like Delo, Durpin Dara Hills, and Durpin Monastery. On the third day, you can visit places like Munsong View Point, Ramitey View Point, and Ramdhura.

Daragaon is about 13 kilometres away from Kalimpong town. The distance from New Jalpaiguri to Daragaon is about 90 kilometres. You will get shared cars from New Jalpaiguri to Kalimpong town. You can easily get cars from Kalimpong town to Daragaon. You will find multiple homestays for accommodation in Daragaon. The cost per person for stay and food will be Rs. 1,550.
