As soon as winter arrives, it becomes difficult to leave the warmth of blankets. Even when we wake up in the morning, getting out of bed seems like the most challenging task. But have you ever wondered why this happens? Why do our sleep and laziness increase during winter? Do you know the reason behind this?

During cold weather, the body expends more energy to maintain temperature. For this reason, we require more rest and relaxation. Therefore, sleep increases. During winter, days become shorter and nights longer. Due to less sunlight, the production of the hormone 'melatonin' increases in our body. It is due to the influence of this hormone that we feel more sleepy in winter.

When the temperature drops, blood circulation in the body also slows down somewhat. As a result, we feel tired and lethargic. When we go under quilts or blankets in the cold, the body gets warmth and comfort. This comfortable environment helps in deep sleep.

Due to cold weather, people go out less and physical activities also decrease. When the body remains less active, sleep or drowsiness naturally increases.Body temperature is also a factor in sleep. When the temperature drops, the brain signals for sleep. This process automatically increases during winter.

In cold weather, the body's metabolism slows down somewhat. As a result, the body produces energy at a slower pace, which leads to lethargy and drowsiness.
