Chetla Agrani Club’s Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata was unexpectedly closed on 25 September 2025 following an “unprecedented accident,” authorities and organizers say. Devotees who had planned to visit were urged to await further updates.

What does their social media post say?

Kolkata’s renowned Chetla Agrani Club confirmed on Thursday that its Durga Puja 2025 pandal would remain closed for the day following an unforeseen accident. In an official notice, the club expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to devotees and visitors, and promised to provide updates as soon as reopening is possible. Their Facebook post reads,"Important Update - Due to an unprecedented accident, our Chetla Agrani Club Pandal will be closed today, 25th September 2025. We will update shortly when it will be open for devotees and visitors. We regret the inconvenience caused."

This shutdown comes at a critical time during the festive season, when pandal footfall is typically very high.

Chetla Agrani is among Kolkata’s most celebrated puja spots, noted for ambitious designs and large visitor numbers. Its 2025 theme, “Rudraksh,” garnered media attention. Earlier in the week, local police had already heightened safety inspections across major pandals, including Chetla, in view of crowd control and structural compliance.

Meanwhile, devotees are being asked to await further updates.
