Rice and mutton go hand in hand with the Navami feast. The combination of white rice, round potatoes, and a thin meat curry is pure bliss. Mutton curry, however, is a fairly common dish. Consider trying a few different mutton preparations for your Navami lunch. Consider serving a black roast of mutton with sesame paste as part of a special Navami menu.

Here's the method

1 kg goat meat

1 tablespoon turmeric powder

2 dried red chilies

1 bay leaf

2 cups finely chopped onions

1 tablespoon ginger paste

2 tablespoons garlic paste

4 tablespoons black sesame seeds

1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns

Whole garam masala as needed

5-6 slit green chilies

Salt to taste

Oil as required

1 tablespoon coriander powder

1 tablespoon cumin powder

1 tablespoon red chili powder

Marinate the meat with salt and turmeric for about an hour. In a mixer, grind garlic, ginger, green chilies, black sesame seeds, and salt to make a paste.

Heat mustard oil in a kadai and temper it with dried red chilies and bay leaf. Now add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown.

Add the marinated meat and stir well. After 15 minutes, add the black sesame paste mixture and sauté thoroughly. Gradually add the powdered spices.

After about ten minutes, add hot water as needed and cover the kadai. Once the meat is tender, sprinkle the slit green chilies and turn off the heat.
