Team India won the Test series 2-0 against the West Indies on home soil. Now Shubman Gill faces a new challenge. The Indian team will take the field against Australia in the ODI series starting Sunday. As Test captain, Gill had to tour England right from the start. Now as ODI captain, he has to tour Australia right from the beginning as well. However, despite playing on home ground, Australia suffered a major blow. Two-star cricketers Adam Zampa and Josh Inglis will not be able to play in the first match against India. Why can't they play?

Josh Inglis couldn't play in the T20 series against New Zealand recently due to a calf muscle injury. He hasn't recovered from that injury yet. Therefore, he won't be able to play in the first two matches of the ODI series against India. Alex Carey is playing Sheffield Shield matches to prepare for the Ashes series. This means Australia won't have their two main wicketkeepers for the first ODI match.

Therefore, Josh Philippe has received a call-up to the team. On the other hand, spinner Adam Zampa has stepped aside from the first match due to family reasons. However, Cricket Australia hasn't announced anyone's name as his replacement yet.

Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green had already been ruled out of this series due to injuries. Therefore, the Aussie camp is under some pressure regarding team selection for the first match. However, Josh Philippe has a golden opportunity to play an ODI match in national team jersey after 4 years.

He last played for Australia in 2021. In his ODI career, he has scored 65 runs in three matches. However, this aggressive keeper-batsman now has the opportunity to prove himself and solidify his place in the team.
