The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced their player list for the Ranji Trophy. For the 2025-26 season, they appointed Ayush Badoni as captain. Yash Dhull has been made vice-captain. Nitish Rana, who joined the Delhi team from Uttar Pradesh, has been given an opportunity by DDCA this time. Last season, he had left Delhi for Uttar Pradesh, but after resolving issues, he has returned to Delhi this time and has been included in the team. However, the biggest question after team formation is: will Rishabh Pant play?
The rule is to announce a 15-member squad for the Ranji Trophy. But DDCA announced a total of 24 members' names. This has surprised everyone. To prevent corruption, BCCI had announced long ago that no more than 15 members could be announced for Ranji. But they announced 24 names. However, on this matter, DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma said, "The selectors have chosen 24 players because they feel this provides a large player pool when forming teams for each match. But during games, we will reduce the player count to 15. The remaining players will stay at the hotel for the four days of the match."
Regarding Nitish Rana's return, Ashok Sharma informed that Rana is an experienced player and the selectors felt he deserved an opportunity, but Nitish Rana is not fully fit. About Pant's possibility of playing, Ashok Sharma informed that Pant might play in the second match, that is, against Himachal Pradesh. In that case, the player count would be 25.
