The International Cricket Council officials have headed to Bangladesh to talk with the Bangladesh Cricket Board about the ongoing situation. On Saturday two senior officials are travelling to Dhaka and they will have a meeting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. It is believed that this effort will be one of the last ones by ICC to find a common ground between the two parties. The ICC had tried to reach out to the BCB before this to find a common ground in a video call, but it seemed that they had returned with displeasure as the BCB stood firm on their demand.
What will be the point of discussion?
This new development between ICC and BCB has been made to find a common ground as the first try by ICC failed because of BCB Supremo Aminul Islam’s displeasure.

The grounds of the discussion will be on the security lines and the Mustafizur Rahman controversy. Reports are suggesting that the ICC will try to impress BCB by giving the assurance that as a cricketing nation Bangladesh is important and the security assessment by ICC has also confirmed that the risk of the Bangladeshi players in India is going to stay between moderate and low.
Aminul Islam is likely to stay on his ground, citing security threats in a highly hypothetical scenario of breaking out of the communal violence. He has also raised questions on Mustafizur’s security after BJP and Shiv Sena leaders made a comment on the left-arm pacer.
Amid that, there is also a problem that it is too late to change the venues and schedules as the point made by BCB has only come in the third week after the release of the schedules which made the situation more critical for the ICC. Meanwhile, BCB director Iftekhar Rahman told Cricbuzz on Friday that ICC representatives are expected to arrive on Saturday, adding that the board is keen to hold discussions with them in the hope of resolving the matter.
Bangladesh will play three of their four group-stage matches in Kolkata, facing West Indies on February 7, Italy on February 9, and England on February 14, before heading to Mumbai for their final group encounter against Nepal.
