India is set to play a three-match ODI series against Australia from 19 October. This series marks the return of two veteran players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two Indian legends have not donned the Indian jersey since the Champions Trophy victory over New Zealand in March. Ahead of the series, Australia got a big blow as Cameron Green, Australia’s prominent all-rounder, will be missed in the ODI series. Earlier this week, Green suffered from a low-grade soreness at training this week and will also miss the series. In his place, Labuschagne came as a replacement.
Labuschagne was not picked up at first for the team. Now he is going to play in the three-match ODI series. Green only returned to the crease after a long battle with a back injury and is coming off a brilliant innings of 118* in his most recent ODI appearance for his country.
A spokesperson confirmed to ICC that,” Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes.”
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen to do blood-sweating practice in the nets.
It will be the first ODI series of Subhman Gill as captain.
"Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," CA said in a statement this morning.
After Cameron Green’s injury, the Australian squad now look like this
Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Owen, Josh Philippe, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Mitchell Starc. Games two and three only: Adam Zampa, Alex Carey, Josh Inglis
