Indian Cricket loses former U-19 all-rounder and World Cup member in a fatal road accident

On the one hand, the Indian girls are fighting to bring home the World Cup trophy and on the other hand, there is bad news.

It's just a matter of minutes before the news comes out whether the Indian women's cricket team will win the World Cup or not. The Indian men's team defeated Australia and regained parity. In the midst of all this good news in Indian cricket, the news of former India cricketer and current Tripura U-16 selector Rajesh Banik's death has already cast a shadow of sadness.

On Saturday, November 1, he met with a road accident in Anandnagar of West Tripura. He was accompanied by his parents and brother. Even though others survived the accident but Rajesh lost his life. He was 40 years old at the time of his death.

Tripura Cricket Association secretary Subrata Dey said that we have lost a talented cricketer and a selector of the U-16 team. We were all shocked to hear this news. May his soul rest in peace.

Although he did not play for the senior Indian cricket team, he played for the U-19 team in India's jersey. He was also a member of the World Cup team. He used to play for the Tripura team at the state level. Rajesh was an all-rounder.

Born in Agartala, Tripura, Rajesh made his first-class debut in the 2000-2001 season. Last time he played domestic cricket in 2018. He claimed three wickets in that match against Odisha. During his career, he has claimed a total of 42 wickets. He scored 1469 runs. He had six half-centuries in his bag. He claimed two wickets in red-ball cricket. He played 24 ODIs and scored 378 runs and claimed eight wickets. In T20, he scored 203 runs and claimed one wicket.
