India’s T20I squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England has undergone a late change, with fast bowler Mohammed Siraj being ruled out due to workload management. The decision was taken after consultations between the BCCI medical team and team management, who advised the pacer to take a period of rest ahead of a busy international calendar. Prasidh Krishna has been drafted into the squad as Siraj’s replacement.
Siraj rested as part of workload management
Siraj has been one of India’s most heavily used fast bowlers across formats in recent years. With multiple assignments lined up in the coming months, the team management opted to give him a break to ensure he remains fresh and injury-free. The move reflects the BCCI’s increasing emphasis on managing the workload of its key players and reducing the risk of long-term fitness concerns.
The pacer was initially named in India’s squad for the white-ball assignments against Ireland and England. However, the latest update means he will miss both series, opening the door for another fast bowler to stake a claim in the national setup.
Prasidh gets another opportunity
Prasidh Krishna now returns to the T20I squad and will look to make the most of the opportunity. Known for his pace, bounce and ability to hit hard lengths, the Karnataka pacer adds a different dimension to India’s bowling attack.
The change comes just days after India announced a revamped T20I squad led by Shreyas Iyer for the Ireland and England tours. The squad also includes several fresh faces, with selectors continuing to balance experience and youth as they build towards future ICC events.
With Siraj unavailable, the spotlight will now be on Prasidh as India begin their white-ball campaign against Ireland before heading to England for a five-match T20I series.
