During the grand music launch of "Peddi" in Bhopal, along with Janhvi Kapoor, AR Rahman and the rest of the film's team, Ram Charan mixes up the star Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, between cricket and football. During a media interaction, he described Sachin Tendulkar's career as a "Long legendary run", Dhoni as "calm and cool", Virat Kohli as "fire" and described Rohit Sharma as "He's everybody's man" when asked for a description. But the matter came into the spotlight when the superstar referred to Bumrah as a "footballer". The video of his mistake went viral getting him trolled by his fans over social media.
Ram Charan later took to social media to apologise to Bumrah.
Taking to X, he posted, “Uff… I'm genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the mix-up - it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd."

Jayawardene's concern about Bumrah's physical attributes
Meanwhile, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene reveals that Bumrah lost his accuracy due to sustained unspecified injury through the IPL season despite the team giving him enough recovery time. Bumrah's reduced effectiveness resulted in the bagging of four wickets in a total of 13 matches for MI since the earlier part of IPL 2026.

Speaking to NDTV via reporters, Jayawardene stated, “(It is due to) a combination of a few things. Coming back from the (T20) World Cup, he had a slight niggle which he played with through the World Cup, so we gave him adequate rest to come back.”
The majority of Bumrah's injury emerged after MI allowed Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma to join the international line-up for the pre-season camp of the T-20 fixture before IPL 2026, where India defended their title at Ahmedabad after an intense campaign.
