Rohit Sharma becomes world no. 1 ODI batsman, surpasses Shubman Gill after stellar Australia series

Rohit Sharma claimed the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings after a brilliant series against Australia, surpassing Shubman Gill and becoming the oldest player to achieve the No. 1 position.

After a brilliant performance in the ODI series against Australia, Rohit Sharma has captured the number one position in the ICC ODI rankings. He achieved this honour by overtaking ODI captain Shubman Gill. Additionally, Rohit has set a record for becoming the world's number one ODI batsman at the oldest age. According to the latest rankings, Rohit Sharma's rating points stand at 781, which has taken him to the top. He has surpassed Gill and Ibrahim Zadran. On the other hand, Shubman Gill has dropped directly from number one to three.

In the ODI series against Australia, Rohit Sharma scored the most runs, surpassing all batsmen. Although he failed to score runs in the first match, he scored a half-century in the second match and scored a century in the final match to bring victory to the team. He scored 202 runs in the series with an average of 101. This performance has placed him on the throne of the world's number one ODI batsman. Notably, Rohit Sharma achieved this position for the first time in his career.

Besides becoming the world's number one ODI batsman, Rohit Sharma has also set a world record. He has become the player to achieve this position at the oldest age. Rohit achieved this ranking at the age of 38 years and 182 days. He made his international cricket debut 18 years ago and has now secured the number one spot for the first time.

Rohit Sharma is the fifth Indian batsman to reach the number one position in ODI rankings. Sachin Tendulkar was the first to achieve this feat. Then, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, followed by Virat Kohli, held this position for a long time. Shubman Gill achieved this feat even if for a short time, and now Rohit Sharma has earned his deserved honour.

Rohit Sharma's ODI career is exceptional. He has scored 11,370 runs in 276 ODI matches so far. His average is 49.22, and he has scored 33 centuries and 59 half-centuries.
