India is set to play a three-match ODI series against Australia from 19 October. This series marks the return of two veteran players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two Indian legends have not donned the Indian jersey since the Champions Trophy victory over New Zealand in March.

Ahead of the ODI Series, on Thursday morning, at 10 am Virat Kohli shared a cryptic post in X. He wrote,” The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up.”

Virat Kohli is not usually seen posting much on social media. He doesn't post anything except for brand promotion or the big successes of the Indian team. The post went viral in an instant. Fans started discussing its meaning. Many believe that Virat, who has a fighting mentality, is not ready to put down his bat just yet. His focus is not on the Australian tour, but on the 2027 World Cup.

Netizen’s reactions

Indian fans are eager to know about Virat Kohli’s future, and Gautam Gambhir recently addressed this in a press conference after India’s series win over West Indies. Addressing a question about Rohit and Virat’s future, he said the ODI World Cup is two and a half years away. It is important to stay in the present. They are both quality players. Hopefully, those 2 will have a successful tour.”

These remarks sparked the debate again on the internet and now Virat Kohli’s tweet adds fuel to the speculation. People filled the comment section in seconds.

A verified X user named Nitin Rana wrote,” Never give up… But remember, many others are waiting for their turn too. And being the senior and hustler you are, you already know that. If things ever don’t work out, leave with grace and on good terms. That’s the kind of person I’ve always looked up to in you.“

”The old one was just a trailer. I think the biggest comeback in the history of mankind has not happened yet,” another one wrote.

The Indian team was spotted at the Delhi airport yesterday as the players took a flight to Australia. The Indian team will play their first match in Perth.
