The World Cup-winning cricketer Richa Ghosh has been bestowed with the ‘Banga Bhushan’ award by the West Bengal government. She has been given a golden bat and ball by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Richa had scored 34 runs in the World Cup final, and as recognition for it, the CAB gave her ₹34 lakh.
Richa has been felicitated at Eden Gardens, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee presented her with a bouquet. Sports Minister Arup Biswas, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, former Indian women's cricketer Jhulan Goswami, and several other dignitaries were also present on the stage.
