Ghana secures World Cup ticket for fifth time; Who else remains in the race?

Ghana becomes the fifth African nation to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Comoros 1–0.

Ghana has secured their World Cup ticket for the fifth time. Last night, Ghana defeated Comoros in the FIFA World Cup African qualifying round to secure their World Cup ticket. This makes the Black Stars the fifth African country to play in the 2026 World Cup.

Yesterday they played against Comoros. Ghana won the match 1-0. The only goal was scored by Mohammed Kudus. With this win, Ghana finished Group I with 25 points from 10 matches. They are six points ahead of second-placed Madagascar.

Ghana became the first team from outside North Africa to qualify for the World Cup in the current qualifying round. Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia have already secured their World Cup tickets.

After six teams from Africa have qualified, Burkina Faso and Niger are still on waiting. They remain in the race after winning 1-0 against Zambia. They have a chance of going to the World Cup. On the other hand, Burkina Faso will have to wait. Their future will be known after all group stage matches are completed.

Meanwhile, today there is a match between Cape Verde and Eswatini. If Cape Verde wins this match, they will play in the World Cup for the first time.
