US President Donald Trump has called the NFL “crazy” and “ridiculous” for choosing Bad Bunny to headline the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show.
During a Monday appearance on Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports, host Greg Kelly brought up the league’s recent announcement. “The NFL just chose the Bad Bunny rabbit or whatever his name is,” Kelly said, before adding, “This guy, who hates ICE, he doesn’t like you, he accuses everything he doesn’t like of racism.”
Kelly then asked Trump whether fans should consider boycotting the NFL, calling Bad Bunny “not a unifying entertainer” and claiming “a lot of folks don’t even know who he is.”
“I’ve never heard of him,” Trump replied. “I don’t know who he is.”
“I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,” the Prez went on saying
However, the NFL itself doesn’t select halftime performers. Since 2019, it has partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation to produce and program the show as part of a collaboration meant to “enhance the NFL’s live game experiences and amplify the league’s social justice efforts.”
Bad Bunny boasts over 107 billion Spotify streams and nearly 50 million Instagram followers, and was announced as the headliner on September 28.
“What I'm feeling goes beyond myself,” Puerto Rican superstar said in a statement. “It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el halftime show del Super Bowl.”
The Super Bowl performance will be Bad Bunny’s only US mainland show in support of his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
The 2026 Super Bowl is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
