TikTok was banned from operating in India in July of 2020 after major national security concerns might be coming back. After its ban in 2020 TikTok’s official website has again become live for Indians.

Even though according to many users they are still unable to login to the platform and some users who have claimed to be able to successfully log in to the platform have reported facing issues going to certain sections of the app on social media platforms. Which makes it to be a possible scenario for becoming a Phase roll out even though the app is still unavailable on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation from the parent company ByteDance about the app’s comeback, the sudden accessibility has already fueled a wave of excitement among the fans. Some users have also taken it on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) questioning the return of the once popular short video platform.

Reason Behind TikTok ban in India:

In 2020 TikTok along with multiple other popular Chinese apps were banned by the Central Government citing reasons of national security and sovereignty. According to ‘Livemint’ these apps were found to be part of “activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”, said the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity).

This ban came into action following the Galwan valley dispute between India and China, leaving several soldiers injured and dead, bringing the Indo-China relationship to a questionable point. TikTok ban was a blow to China while ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, lost more than 200 million users in a breath.

With the currently changing geopolitical relationship between India and China has become more amicable in the past couple of years including holding multiple rounds of talks between two countries, calming the border tensions and relaxing restrictions.
