On 25th September, Beijing saw Xiaomi heralding the 17 Pro Max, which is part of its new 17 series trio. The device features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED primary display with 1,200 × 2,608 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and 3,500 nits peak brightness.

A 2.9-inch secondary AMOLED screen on the rear assumes the role of a viewfinder for selfies using the main cameras and is known to be predisposed with the capacity to host widgets, transforming conventional front-camera shots into a secondary-screen experience. The design highlights versatility as paramount without sacrificing premium heft, measuring 162.9 × 77.6 × 8 mm and weighing 219 grams.

Powerhouse performance with Leica cameras

Under the hood, the 17 Pro Max runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is synchronised with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage. Its triple 50 MP Leica-tuned rear camera setup includes a 950L main sensor with OIS, a 120° ultrawide lens, and a 5x periscope telephoto lens. The 50 MP front camera captures crisp selfies, while the secondary display allows precise framing using the main lenses.

Battery life that sets a benchmark

The device fortifies a titanic 7,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi claims this can last up to two days under mixed usage, outlasting rivals such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which comes with a 4,823 mAh battery, emphasising endurance over slimness.

The 17 Pro Max is slated to enter India around early 2026 by the month of February, while the price tag is expected to start at around ₹99,999. Local MIUI optimisations, EMI options via Flipkart or mi.com, and targeted marketing position the phone as a strong contender against Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, promising a blend of innovation, performance, and longevity for premium users.
