A Bengaluru woman auto driver has won hearts online after a passenger shared her inspiring reason for choosing the profession, sparking widespread appreciation on social media.

The story was shared on Instagram by Shreyashi Sinha, an employee at Amazon, who posted a video featuring the woman behind the wheel of an auto rickshaw. The clip quickly gained traction for highlighting themes of independence, dignity of labour and freedom.
According to Sinha, the woman had arrived to pick her up but was experiencing some trouble with her phone. She requested help with navigation directions, leading to a casual conversation during the ride that later resonated with millions online.

Recalling the interaction, Sinha explained that she asked the driver why she chose to drive an auto. The woman’s candid response left a strong impression on her.
She wrote, “Today, a lady auto driver came to pick me up. She was facing some issue with her phone, so she asked me to guide her with the directions. While casually talking to her, I asked what made her choose driving an auto. She smiled and said, 'Bartan majne se toh accha hai auto chalana, kyuki mujhe ghumna bhi pasand hai aur yahan time ka bhi koi restriction nahi hai jitna marzi, jab marzi auto chala sakti hu aur kahin bhi ja sakti hu. I genuinely admire women who chooses work that gives her independence, and freedom.”

The post has since crossed 3 million views, with social media users praising the woman’s confidence and outlook towards work. According to a news report by Hindustan Times, many commenters described her as an inspiration and applauded her emphasis on freedom and self-reliance.
