Panic gripped passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Chennai after smoke was detected inside the aircraft, triggering an emergency evacuation shortly before take-off. A viral video from the scene showed several passengers stranded on the aircraft’s wing after an emergency escape slide reportedly failed to deploy properly, raising serious concerns over passenger safety and emergency response measures. IndiGo later confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

A passenger shows a terrifying video

A passenger on the flight posted a video to X that showed people standing on the plane's wing while it was being evacuated. He claims that because the overwing exit slide on the right side did not inflate properly, passengers had to go back inside the aeroplane and choose an alternate exit.

He wrote on X, “also, IndiGo from the incident yesterday on the flight 6E6017, this is the video after I exited the aircraft. The slide on the overwing exit (right side) did not inflate yesterday. You could see people had to get on the wing. And, get back inside the aircraft again to exit.”

The passenger also added, “I hope you will look into this as well in your investigation. It could have caused a serious problem for the safe exit of the people. In their panic, people could have fallen or had caused serious injury to themselves. Please ensure this is investigated properly.”

“There was smoke in my Indigo flight from Bangalore to Chennai. We had to evacuate immediately. I am still shaking. So scary,” the passenger explained.
