By late October, TikTok, X, Instagram, and even Facebook were buzzing with a story that Barron Trump, Donald Trump's youngest son, was in a relationship with a man named Carlos.

The rumour first took off after a TikTok user, @tigre_zigre, posted a viral video claiming Barron had “caused chaos at Trump Tower when he closed a whole floor so that he could have a private meeting with his new boyfriend, Carlos.”

“Carlos, the Argentinian ballroom dancer, who's now dating Barron. Well, I don't think the father knew anything about this. So, Donald closed not just the floor Barron was on but three floors above and three floors below. This was breaking news,” the user added.

Notorious online political commentator known as ‘Hawk’ (@mdg650hawk) discussed the rumour on his YouTube channel, Hawk’s Podcasts. From there, the rumour spread across Bluesky, Threads, TikTok, and X and soon found its way into Google searches.

However, the American fact-checking website Snopes investigated and reported that they found no credible evidence to back it up.

American fact-checking website found nothing on Barron

Snopes reached out to Hawk, @tigre_zigre, the Stuttgart Ballet, and even the White House, seeking clarification, but received no confirmation. “Due to a lack of proof, we did not apply a fact-check rating to this article,” they wrote.

The American fact-checking website noted that the story likely stemmed from confusion surrounding a Sept. 29 Page Six article titled 'Barron Trump shut down a whole floor of Trump Tower for a date.' That report cited an anonymous source claiming Barron had a date at Trump Tower “strictly for security reasons.” However, it made no mention of a man named Carlos or any.

The ‘Carlos’ part, as Snopes reported, seemed to come from users confusing Barron with a real German-born ballet dancer named Carlos Strasser, who is listed on the Stuttgart Ballet’s website. Strasser is not Argentinian, nor a ballroom dancer, but netizens are confusing him with an Argentine political scientist of the same name who died in 2024.
