Singer Zubeen Garg had captured the attention of millions with his rendition of 'Ya Ali...' from the film 'Gangster'. From Bengali and Assamese to several Bollywood films, he lent his voice, winning the hearts of countless fans. Recently, on September 19, the popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg passed away. His death cast a pall of sorrow not just over Assam, but the entire nation. Now, the main cultural stage of Cooch Behar's largest festival, Rash Mela, has been dedicated to the memory of this beloved artist.

Cooch Behar's Rash Mela is the largest festival in Northeast India. This year, it is set to commence on November 6th. To pay homage to the popular singer, a special initiative has been taken. On Wednesday, Rabindranath Ghosh, the Chairman of Cooch Behar Municipality, announced in a press conference that the main cultural stage of Rash Mela would be dedicated to Zubeen Garg.

Rabindranath Ghosh stated, "This great musician did not confine himself to Assam alone. He considered himself half Bengali. Zubeen Garg was the pride of the entire Northeast India. He had also performed on the Cooch Behar Rashmela stage. He had a special affinity and love for Bengal. That's why this year's Rash Mela stage is being dedicated to him. A cut-out of him will be placed on the main stage. We are also in touch with his family."

However, it's not just about the cut-out; they are planning to install a statue of the popular singer in Cooch Behar city very soon, he revealed.

Rashmela is the biggest festival in Cooch Behar. Starting from November 6th, it will continue for 15-20 days straight. This fair has been held for years, centered around the Rasyatra of Cooch Behar's Madanmohan. This year, Rashmela steps into its 214th year. Not just from Cooch Behar, but people from across the country and abroad visit this fair. The fair hosts over 2,000 stalls.
