Gang rape allegations came to light on the eve of Durga Puja celebrations. According to the complaint, a housewife was gang-raped after burglars broke into her house. The incident took place near the Kultali police station of South 24 Parganas . Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the accusations. Additionally, according to the police, an investigation into the incident has started.
According to police and local sources, this incident occurred on the night of Maha Ashtami. It has been reported that the woman's husband was not at home that night. Exploiting the husband's absence, three individuals allegedly broke down the door and entered the house in the middle of the night. They are accused of then holding a sharp weapon to the housewife's throat before assaulting and raping her.
Police sources reveal that the accused have been identified as Pinku Sardar, Arshed Molla, and Anwar Molla. All three are reportedly residents of that area.
According to the victim, the three men terrorized her by raping her at knifepoint. They tried to escape after the attack. She then screamed for assistance from the neighbours as she ran outside the house. Neighbouring villagers hurried to the scene after hearing her distressing cries. Two of the accused were captured by the local villagers, and the surrounding area was restricted as a result of their prompt action. The Kultali police station was then notified. When the police showed up, they arrested the two defendants. The housewife later filed a written complaint at the police station.
A local police official has stated that Anwar Molla, one of the primary accused in this incident, is still at large. A search operation has been initiated to locate him by the police. The police have reported that the woman's statement has been recorded and arrangements have been made for her medical treatment.
Villagers have demanded severe punishment for the accused.
