Earlier, information surfaced that the harassed student did not want to study at that law college in Kasba. She had also applied to Calcutta University to change colleges.

On Saturday, the university authorities announced that she had been given permission to shift to another college. She will be able to continue her studies from the second year.

Last June, she was attacked by Trinamool Chhatra Parishad leader Manojit Mishra and his associates inside the law college in South Calcutta. The gang rape incident within the college campus had created an uproar across the state.

Subsequently, through the intervention of the State Women's Commission and well-wishers of the student, she appeared for the final semester of the first year. However, the student's father had stated that studying at that college could disturb his daughter's mental peace and security.

Therefore, an application was made to study at another college. Responding to that application, the student has been given the opportunity to study elsewhere. She will be able to start studying at the new campus after Kali Puja.
