A Kolkata Municipal Corporation Assistant Engineer has been arrested by the state police's Anti-Corruption Branch on charges of possessing assets beyond his income. According to sources, the arrested person's name is Partha Chongdar. He was working in the 'Planning and Development Department' of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Sources also revealed, a complaint had been filed against Partha at the 'Anti-Corruption Branch'. Following this, they launched an investigation.
According to sources, assets worth approximately five crore rupees have been found in Partha's possession. which is more than his income between 2017 and 2021. He has been arrested based on information obtained during the investigation. How did this huge amount of money come into his hands? Is there any influence of his government position behind this? All these aspects are being examined. No response has been received from the municipal authorities regarding this matter so far.
However, in the past, Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Firhad Hakim had stated multiple times that their government's position on corruption is clear. A 'zero tolerance' policy has been adopted in this regard.
