Allegations of Metro disruptions on the Blue Line resurface just as the Durga Puja festivities conclude. Metro services from Dakshineswar have come to a standstill. Shortly after 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Metro services from the Dakshineswar station came to a halt.
Ticket counters announced that trains could not depart from Dakshineswar, urging passengers to seek alternative modes of transport after refunding their fares. Metro authorities have cited issues at the Dakshineswar point as the reason for the temporary suspension. Services continue to operate between Noapara and Shahid Khudiram.
Passengers, however, raised their frustrations, and many people endured lengthy waits at Noapara and Dum Dum stations. The Blue Line section, stretching from Dakshineswar through Noapara and Dum Dum to Shahid Khudiram, has been plagued by frequent disruptions on the eve of Durga Puja, much to the chagrin of commuters. These recurring incidents have left Metro authorities facing a barrage of criticism.
Skeptical passengers question whether the authorities can truly manage the Puja crowds. Ironically, during the four days of Puja, Kolkata Metro had earned stellar marks. Trains ran through the night, and despite the overwhelming passenger load, services remained uninterrupted. Yet, no sooner has Lakshmi Puja concluded than the Metro finds itself embroiled in controversy once again.
