A little 11-year-old girl, a 5th grader at a well-known private English-medium school, was found hanging in a wardrobe at her own home in Alipore on Sunday evening, October 20. She was all alone at the time, as her father was working and her mother had stepped out to go shopping
Her step-mother, reportedly a cousin of RG Kar rape convict Sanjay Roy, found her body hanging during the evening time, after she had returned from shopping, as cited by The Times of India.
Soon, the victim’s body was discovered, and the family called up the police. A team from the Alipore police station arrived at the scene, secured the area and recovered the body. The body was then sent for post-mortem examination (autopsy) to find the exact cause and time of death.
Police explore suicide, foul play, and accident in teen’s death
Police investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of this unnatural death. While the initial suspicion of the cause of death is suicide, police still find a possibility of foul play or even accidental death.
As a part of the investigation, the police seek to have a word with the girl’s family members, her classmates, and school teachers, to get a viewpoint of the girl’s mental state and understand if she was facing any personal problems or pressure, either at home or at school.
However, the post-mortem was completed on Sunday, but details are yet to be shared by the police.
The entire neighbourhood is still in shock, struggling to understand the reason behind the death of the girl at such a young age.
