Minor among two rescued from Kolkata hotel sex racket; five arrested, including trafficker

In a late-night raid at a north Kolkata hotel, police rescued a 15-year-old girl and another young woman allegedly forced into prostitution. The operation, led by the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), resulted in the arrest of five people, including a juvenile trafficker and the hotel’s brothel keeper and manager.

On Thursday night, Kolkata Police’s Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted a raid at Hotel Majestic Inn, located at 2E, Gurudas Dutta Garden Lane under Ultadanga Police Station.

During the operation, officers rescued two girls: a minor, about 15 years old, from room 303, and a 24-year-old woman from room 302.

The police arrested a juvenile girl, identified as the trafficker, from the spot around 4:50 pm, for her “direct involvement in trafficking the minor and major victim girl,” according to the official report.

Investigators seized incriminating materials, including decoy money worth ₹5,000, condoms, and other relevant exhibits during the raid.

Who are the accused?

Four other accused were also arrested for their alleged roles in running the racket. They have been identified as Subhrajyoti Biswas (44), the brothel keeper; Himangshu Singh (28), the brothel manager; Arun Patra (32), Laltu Ghatan (25).

Following the arrests, police sealed the hotel premises. “After the raid, the Majestic Inn has been kept under lock and key and the said key has been seized for the purpose of investigation into the case,” the police report read.

Notably, a formal complaint was lodged at Ultadanga Police Station by Inspector Ashok Kumar Halder of the AHTU, DD, and the case (Ultadanga P.S./DD Case No. 180 dated 31.10.25) was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The investigation was later taken up by AHTU/DD.

Medical examinations of both rescued girls have been completed.

“All the accused persons will be produced before the Ld. Court today. The CCL girl will be produced before the JJB Board,” the police report noted.
