This huge quantity of gelatin sticks was recovered from Sultanpur under the Nalhati police station. Police have claimed that 20,000 pieces of gelatin sticks were being illegally transported in a pickup van coming from Jharkhand's Pakur. Acting on secret information and coordinating with Pakur police station, Birbhum district police intercepted this pickup van during checking operations from a Naka checkpoint.

Gelatin sticks are usually used for stone blasting work in Birbhum's stone industrial area. However, police are investigating whether this huge cache of gelatin sticks was being brought for use in the stone industrial area or if there was some other motive behind this.
