The discovery of an army jawan's body in the Siliguri Junction caused a stir in the area. Locals spotted a man in an army uniform lying by the roadside near a petrol pump around 4:30–5:00 AM and immediately alerted the junction traffic police. Police went and recovered the body.
According to local sources, around 4:30-5:00 AM, a person wearing an army jawan's uniform was seen lying on the road beside a local petrol pump. Local people first informed the junction traffic police. After receiving the news, police from Pradhan Nagar police station reached the spot. The police came and recovered the body, and sent it to Siliguri District Hospital.
According to police sources, the jawan was possibly from Sikkim. He was about 40 years old. Shatrughna Prasad, a toto driver from the junction, said, “Seeing the body lying there in the morning raised suspicion. That person had bandages on his hands and feet. It appeared that he was ill and had been admitted to some hospital”.
Police have filed a case of unnatural death and started investigating the incident.
