A woman boarded a train from Ranchi carrying a bag with gold jewelry worth 4 lakh rupees. The Howrah-Tata-Santragachi Express departed from Ranchi station at 9 PM. After boarding the train, the woman fell asleep on her reserved seat with the jewelry bag as her pillow. When she suddenly woke up at night, she found that the bag she had been sleeping with was missing. Unable to understand what to do, she immediately informed the RPF personnel on duty in the train.
Upon receiving the complaint, a search began on the train. Around 7 AM, the RPF recovered the bag from a dustbin located near the toilet at the end of the compartment. It was reported that jewelry worth ₹4 lakh 20 thousand was intact in it. The bag was returned to the woman. The RPF suspects that the miscreants had hidden it in the dustbin to take it later. However, they could not get the opportunity to take it as the search began on the train.
Meanwhile, police arrested two people from platform number 4 of Kharagpur station on charges of bag theft. The RPF reported that two persons were moving around suspiciously with a trolley bag. The real truth came out when they were detained and interrogated.
The RPF claims that during interrogation, the two persons revealed that the trolley bag they had with them was stolen. They had stolen it from the 22854 Visakhapatnam-Shalimar Express. A case has been filed against the arrested persons under specific sections in connection with the incident. Additionally, the RPF rescued a minor from Kharagpur station on Thursday.
