A few months ago, his father had bought him a mobile phone, but he had a desire for an expensive iPhone. On his birthday, he repeatedly demanded that his father get him an iPhone. But when denied, the seventeen-year-old committed suicide by hanging. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Kultali, South 24 Parganas.
According to police sources, the deceased teenager's name is Dipanjan Das, a resident of the Shankijahan area of Gopalgunj gram panchayat under Kultali police station in South 24 Parganas. Dipanjan was a Class 10 student at Nimpith Ashram.

According to family sources, just a few months ago, Dipanjan's father had bought him an Android phone for ₹32,000. But he wanted to buy an iPhone. With his birthday approaching, he had been demanding that his parents buy him an iPhone for the occasion. But when this demand was not fulfilled, he had not been eating properly for several days. On Monday, when family members could not see him at home for a long time, they started searching for him. Eventually, his hanging body was recovered from inside the room.
Dipanjan was quickly rushed to Kultali Block Hospital after recovery, where doctors declared him dead. Police said his body will be sent for a post-mortem today. Dipanjan was well-known in the area for being good at studies and having a friendly nature. His death in this manner has cast a shadow of grief over the area.
