He lost his parents in childhood. He has no permanent residence. What would he do with his wife and two daughters if his name is not on the voter list? This fear led to a man suffering a heart attack on Saturday. This incident occurred in Thakurpara of Ward No. 18 in Kalna town. Family members claim he suffered a heart attack due to anxiety over the 'survey'. However, his condition is currently stable, according to the family.

Kshitish Sharma, 52 years old, a resident of Thakurpara in Ward No. 18 of Kalna town, suffered a heart attack. He works as a driver by profession. Family members are worried as the sole earning member of the household has fallen sick this way. One of his daughters has submitted a written application to the Kalna-1 BDO seeking government assistance.

Tapan Porel, Vice Chairman of Kalna Municipality, has stood by the family. However, BDO Supratik Saha says, "From what we understand after preliminary investigation, we haven't found anything suggesting he suffered a heart attack due to anxiety over the 'survey'. We are investigating more deeply. Besides, we are also checking whether his name exists in the 2002 voter list."

What does Kshitish say? He said his childhood was spent in Siliguri. He lost his mother and father in childhood when his mother was mentally unstable. Before 1978, a resident of Kalna town brought him to his own house.

Later, he worked at a shop in Kalna town, where he learned to drive. Currently, he works as a driver. On October 29, while returning from Arambagh in his vehicle, he felt discomfort in his body. His legs were becoming heavy. Due to his illness, he was admitted to Kalna Sub-divisional Hospital.

The driver added, "While staying in the hospital, some acquaintances informed me that my name is apparently not in the 2002 voter list. After hearing that, my anxiety increased. I have a wife and two daughters. If something bad happens, what will happen to them? Thinking about this made me worry even more."

Kshitish's wife, Rinu Sharma, said, "The doctor informed us that he had a stroke. We live in a rented house. For several days, he was very worried about the 'survey'. After falling ill, he wasn't getting much strength on the left side of his body either. He managed to move around somehow for two days. Then this condition developed."

College student daughter Raika Sharma says, "Father is the only earner in the family. The doctor has advised two months of rest. I don't know if father will be able to drive again. So I have applied for government assistance for studies and running the household." The Chairman of Kalna Municipality says, "If the name is removed, then government assistance won't be available. That's why he was anxious. We will stand by this family."
