Fire breaks out at a foam factory in West Bengal, 10 fire engines rushed to spot

The incident took place at a foam factory located in Chandmari Road of the Hanskhali Pole area.

A massive fire has erupted at a foam factory in Howrah. The incident took place on Thursday, at around 9:15 PM. The surrounding area was covered in thick black smoke from the fire. The entire area trembled with back-to-back explosions from the factory

The foam factory is located at Chandmari Road in the Hanskhali Pole area. Locals living near the factory area left their homes out of panic as the flames rose exponentially.

According to the residents, earlier, there were multiple small fires broke out in the same factory. Locals have complained of a gas leakage many times in the past. This gas led to severe coughing and breathing problems in the area, yet no actions were taken. This time, the fire engulfed the entire area of the factory. The local residents tried to bring the fire under control alongside the firefighters.

Sources revealed that the factory mainly manufactured foam used in car seats. Later, these foams are inserted into the plastic cover to make the car seats comfortable.

Immediately, the Fire Department was informed by the locals, and a total of 10 fire engines reached the location, trying to bring the fire under control. Around 12 AM, the firefighters at the spot were battling with the fire to stop it from spreading to the local residential area, as they could not reach the actual source of the fire by then. The fire engines successfully brought the fire under control after trying for 3 hours.
