A man was arrested on charges of murdering his wife's brother by slitting his throat. On the morning of Ekadashi during Durga Puja, the dead body of a young man named Shanta Mandal was recovered in Begampur, Baruipur. Sensational information emerged in the police's hands during the investigation of the incident.

Police learned that the sister's husband's money and luxurious lifestyle had gradually become a cause of jealousy for the brother-in-law, Debabrata Patra. Shanta's influence had become unbearable for Debabrata. So he planned to murder him. Nine days after the murder, police arrested a total of four people, including the main accused, Debabrata Patra. The names of the others are Minajul Paik, Jasiruddin Laskar, and Hafizul Molla. Debabrata was acquainted with Debabrata.

According to police sources, Shanta Mandal used to do business in Bengaluru. He earned good money. Expensive watch, thick gold chain around his neck, gold ring on his hand- seeing this prosperity of his sister's husband, Debabrata would feel jealous inside. Debabrata also used to run a food delivery business in Bengaluru. But that business had completely collapsed. He was also frustrated about it.

Debabrata called and brought Shanta on the day of Dashami and put him in Hafizul's autorickshaw. Minajul and Jasiruddin were with him. First, they went to Basanti. There, everyone ate and drank together. They also consumed alcohol. After that, they took Shanta to a secluded place in Shatkoloni, Begampur. There, they consumed more alcohol. After that, Shanta was allegedly murdered by cutting his throat, as per the police sources.

On the morning of Ekadashi, local people saw Shanta Mandal's bloodied body lying by the roadside. Police obtained evidence during the investigation. Along with arresting four people, the autorickshaw they had traveled in on the day of the incident has been seized. However, the weapon used for this murder has not been recovered yet.
