Police from Diamond Harbour station reached the scene after receiving information. The two bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Police initially suspect there was an argument and resentment between the husband and wife, which led them to take their own lives. However, police say nothing can be confirmed about this matter until the post-mortem report arrives.
The deceased have been identified as Sarup Laskar and Sabina Bibi. Sarup, a resident of Kuleshwar, met Sabina from Bagnan in Howrah on social media. Both had been previously married. Their acquaintance on social media gradually turned into friendship. They were married a month ago. They were living with family members in Kuleshwar. On Monday morning, when they did not open their room door, family members called out to them. But there was no response from inside. Later, they broke down the door and entered. That's when their hanging bodies came to their attention. Police were then informed. Investigators suspect the suicide incident stemmed from an argument or resentment between the husband and wife. Police say a complete investigation of the entire incident will be conducted.
