A ninth-grade student became a victim of gang rape at the hands of her minor boyfriend and his friends after going out to see Durga Puja idols. The incident took place in Baruipur in the South 24 Parganas district. They met and fell in love through social media conversations.
According to Police and family sources claim that the accused minor used social media to meet the teenage girl, who lives in Baruipur. Additionally, phone numbers were shared. Those discussions led to the development of a romantic relationship. The young girl went to see the idols, on a bike, on the afternoon of October 30, Maha Ashtami. On a different bike, two of the accused's friends were also present.
After seeing the idols, the minor girl was given a drink laced with drugs at around 8 PM that day. After this, the accused youths took the minor girl to a deserted alley near Begampur Katakhal Bypass in Baruipur. The whole sexual assault took place there. The allegation is that the boyfriend's two friends also recorded a video of the rape on their mobile phones. Then, showing that video, the two friends raped the minor girl.
The allegation is that after the rape, the accused dropped the minor girl off at a relative's house near Sitakundu. Later, when she became seriously ill on the morning of Navami, the minor girl was admitted to Baruipur Sub-divisional Hospital. The rape incident came to light then, and a complaint was filed with the police.
Baruipur Police District Superintendent Palash Chandra Dhali informed that based on the complaint, police investigated and arrested the accused minor. After interrogating him, when information about one of his friends was obtained, he was also taken into police custody. However, the other friend has not been found yet. Police are conducting searches to find him.
