Those who performed well during the disaster in North Bengal will be rewarded, announces CM Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee informed about the programs in North Bengal for the next five days. The reward aims to recognise and encourage dedicated efforts in crisis response and public service.

The State government will reward rescuers in the North Bengal disaster. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Sunday while standing in Kolkata before leaving for North Bengal. She informed about her programs in North Bengal for the next five days.

The Chief Minister will hold a review meeting at Hasimara in Alipurduar on Sunday. On Monday, she will return to Uttarkanya at night, after visiting from Nagrakatha. The next day, she will go to Mirik. From Mirik to Darjeeling. There, she will hold a review meeting on Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The next day, she will return to Uttarkanya. From there, she will return to Kolkata on Friday. She also informed that she will inaugurate five Kali Pujas in Kolkata on that day.

Last Saturday, on the night of October 4, landslides occurred everywhere in North Bengal due to continuous rain. From the hills to the Dooars, the situation became terrible. More than 30 people died. Wildlife was devastated. The Chief Minister went to North Bengal on the morning of the 6th. She assessed the situation on the ground. That day, she also announced financial assistance to the families of the deceased and a job in the Home Guard for one member of each family.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced today that those who did good work in the North Bengal disaster will be rewarded. Everyone from Civil Defence, Fire Brigade, Police, health workers, to residents will receive this reward. Duplicate cards will also be issued by the government for those whose documents were lost due to this disaster.

For now, Darjeeling can be reached via Tindharia, and the Pankhabad road is also open. According to CM Mamata Banerjee, “there was a landslide in Rohini. Damage work is going on there. I hope the work will be completed within the next 5-6 days. Mirik's temporary bridge will be ready within 7-8 days. A permanent bridge is also being built nearby.”
