Two youths throw bomb at house at midnight and flee, panic in Baidyabati

The Serampore police station has initiated an investigation after reviewing the CCTV footage.

Panic spread in Baidyabati, Hooghly, after a bomb exploded on the house wall in the middle of the night. Allegations have been raised that a bomb was thrown at the wall of a house in the Malirbagan Khamardhanga area of Ward No. 18 of Baidyabati Municipality on Monday late at night. The window glass of the house broke due to the explosion's impact. Police from the Serampore police station have started an investigation after reviewing CCTV footage.

According to police sources, CCTV footage has shown two individuals going towards that house around 2:30 AM. One of them was shirtless, wearing black pants. The other was wearing a shirt and pants with a handkerchief wrapped over his face. One of those two individuals took something out of his pocket and threw it towards that house. After which, they immediately fled.

However, the residents of the house, where this incident occurred, did not want to speak to the media. But DCP of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, Arnab Biswas, said two individuals threw something targeting a house. However, whether it was a bomb or a firecracker is not yet clear. DCP Arnab Biswas went there after receiving the news and inspected the scene. There are marks on the wall. Investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Local councillor Swapan Kumar Ghosh also visited the scene. He said the administration is looking into who has carried out this incident and why it happened. However, this incident has spread panic amongst the locals.
