Liquor prices in West Bengal are set to increase from next month. The finance department has issued a notification to this effect. The notification has also been published on the state's excise department website. From December 1, liquor will have to be purchased at increased prices. Duties are being raised on all types of liquor – domestic and foreign. However, beer is an exception in this case. It has been learned that beer prices are not increasing right now. The state government has taken this decision.

Distributors and wholesalers in the state have been instructed to sell as much stock as possible at old prices by November 30 of this year. However, liquor that cannot be sold after that will come under the new price range and new price stickers will have to be affixed mandatorily. This decision has been taken so that customers can understand the revised liquor prices and no confusion is created among them. Liquor sales across the state increase at record rates in December and during New Year, New Year's Eve. Will there be any change in this scenario after liquor prices increase? Businessmen are worried.

According to sources, prices of 180-millilitre liquor may increase by 10-20 rupees. Prices of 750-millilitre liquor bottles may increase by 30-40 rupees. However, the excise department has not yet released the MRP list. It has been learned that the list will be released by the end of this month.
