For a thorough revision of the voter list, BLOs began distributing enumeration forms from November 4.
Alongside offline form fill-ups, door-to-door applications, and online form submission are also ongoing. Meanwhile, multiple complaints of irregularities against BLOs have surfaced. Reports include BLOs attending political party camps and distributing forms from a single location. To stop such malpractices, the Commission has taken strict measures. As of Saturday, eight BLOs have been summoned, and FIRs have been filed against five BLAs, the Commission said.
Additionally, if BLOs intentionally damage enumeration forms or collaborate with political party agents, FIRs may also be filed against them. The Commission clarified on Saturday that complaints against BLOs received in the control room will lead to immediate questioning, followed by departmental investigations against the accused.

Commission's message
Any BLO showing ‘biased’ behaviour can be reported directly to the Commission. The Commission has launched a helpline number — 033-22310850. From Monday, awareness campaigns will be conducted in the media to clear confusion regarding SIR.
Recently, a team of representatives from the Election Commission visited North Bengal to inspect the SIR work. They gave a strict message to BLOs, instructing them to distribute enumeration forms door-to-door. Under no circumstances should the forms be handed over to BLAs.
