By 1:40 pm, the NDA had crossed the 200-mark in the ongoing count, setting itself up for what could be a record mandate in the 2025 Bihar elections. According to the Election Commission data available at that hour, the Nitish Kumar-led alliance was ahead in 202 seats with the BJP leading in 91, JD(U) in 80, LJP in 22, HAM in 5, and RLM in 4.

On the other side, the Mahagathbandhan was struggling to make ground. The RJD was ahead in 26 seats, Congress in 4, CPI(ML) in 4, and CPI (M) in 1, bringing its combined tally to 35. Smaller parties, such as the BSP and AIMIM, held leads in one and five seats, respectively.

Nitish Kumar poised to reclaim Bihar mantle with NDA win

For Nitish Kumar, who once hailed as 'Sushashan Babu', credited with pulling the state out of the grips of what many described as the “jungle raj,” Nitish has lately faced voter fatigue and lingering questions about his shifting loyalties.

Following the NDA alliance's win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Bihar result on X, posting, "Victory of good governance has been achieved. Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved."
