Former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee to be finally released from jail. Nearly three years after his arrest in the SSC recruitment scam, Partha is set to walk free. Following the Supreme Court’s order that required the completion of testimony from eight CBI witnesses, his release has now been approved. On Monday, the statement of the eighth and final witness, an SSC officer, was recorded. Alongside Partha, former SSC chairman Subiresh Bhattacharya will also be released.

Partha Chatterjee’s bail bond of Rs 90,000 has already been deposited. Once the special CBI court issues the release order, it will be sent to Presidency Jail, paving the way for his return home. He is currently admitted to a private hospital near the EM Bypass.
Partha Chatterjee was arrested in 2022 in connection with the SSC teacher recruitment scam. On July 22 of that year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided his residence in Naktala, South Kolkata, and questioned him for hours. The ED also searched the flat of Arpita Chatterjee, known to be close to Partha, where they discovered huge amounts of cash.

Partha had applied for bail several times in the past and even approached the Supreme Court.
In December last year, the Supreme Court ruled that he could be granted conditional bail, but only after the charge sheet was framed and the key witnesses’ testimonies were completed. With those conditions now fulfilled, Partha Chatterjee’s release from jail has been cleared.
