28th, August, Thursday: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee took the opportunity of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad's (TMCP) Foundation Day to send a strong message to her party's youth brigade. According to Hans India, she called upon student leaders to "never compromise with injustice under any circumstances," emphasizing their role in Bengal's political and social odyssey.
Foundation Day celebrated with rally in Kolkata
Banerjee sent greetings to both new and old members of TMCP, calling the organization an "inseparable part of the Trinamool family." She will later today speak at a major rally in central Kolkata. As reported by Hans India, this will be the last TMCP Foundation Day programmed ahead of the 2026 state Assembly elections, and thus a key platform for invigorating young party workers and setting the tone for the campaign to come.
In her message posted on her social media handles, Banerjee stated, "In our endeavor towards the further development and empowerment of Bengal, their participation is central. Today on this special day, I urge my young colleagues never to settle for injustice. Hold your heads high, and you can always be assured that in any fight against injustice, I will stand by your side."
