BJP MP Khagen Murmu, a two-term parliamentarian from North Malda, suffered serious injuries after being attacked by locals during his visit to flood-hit areas in North Bengal.
The incident took place in the Nagrakata area of Jalpaiguri’s Dooars region, where Murmu was overseeing relief and rescue operations following heavy rains and landslides.
According to witnesses, he suffered severe head injuries after stones were thrown at his car. Chilling images from the scene revealed Murmu covered in blood, with his clothes and face soaked in blood. The attack was being probed by authorities as relief operations went on in the area.
